Started off the morning with banh xeo at
one of the more well-known place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Pieman of Noodlepie was at 46A Dinh Cong Trang last year.

The pinkest church I've ever seen.

Shoes being sold at Tan Dinh Market.

Household goods in Tan Dinh.
Not a great place for the claustrophobic.

Dessert vendor.
I'm always too shy to get closer for a better pic.
Must get some pointers from Pieman.
  • the church look so sweet in that baby pink colour.
    • Maybe they're trying to be less intimidating?!
    • Tan Dinh Church

i went to school next door, there was a lady who sale banh tan ong, it was good, wonder if she still there :D
  • Will you miss Vietnam?
  • i LOVE ban seo. i used to drive to orange county all the time to have it. with a glass of that sour fizzy drink, mmmmmm. heaven!
  • Are you getting nostaligic for Vietnam already, now that you know you are leaving??
  • Those shops remind me of the ones in NYC I went to in September. All closed in and packed full of stuff. Not surprisingly, they're mostly owned by asians...

And that church is definitely the most pink one I've ever seen. Elli (my daughter) would LOVE it!
  • Breakfast looks delicious! Though I'm not sure what it all is, which condiments go where, or any of those little details. Still, the fact I find it appealing when I'm only one-cup-coffee-awake is saying a lot.

House elves would solve the boring breakfast options that exist in my house, hehehe.
    • We had to ask the people there to teach us how to eat it too! You take one of those really big lettuce leaves, put some herbs like basil in it, grab a piece of that omelette looking thing, roll it up and munch. YUM!
  • I too love Banh Xeo. The Cambodians have it too and I just love love love it. You're going to really miss the food!
    • The food is yummy. In the end, though, we still crave what we grew up on - macaroni casserole! :D
  • I miss Vietnamese food. I can't wait to explore Vietnam. Summer of '08 is too far.
    • Hi! Thanks for the comment. If you wait until 2008, it's going to be a totally different scene here.
  • The Banh Xeo looks interesting.

Sorry but hubby's travel dates have been pushed back by 1-2wks. BTW do you know how difficult it is to get through customs in Vietnam ? Esp if it's only Ryan and me ?
    • Customs in Vietnam should be manageable. They're not too picky. Just have to elbow your way through the crowd is all. You know how it is in Asian countries, people don't have a clue how to stay in line.
  • Breakfast looks delicious!

And... it's all about the zoom lens for me! haha
